The machines
Ran an automated production cell: Makino a51 horizontal machining centre and a Fastems pallet system, alongside Haas VF-3/4/6 and Cincinnati Arrow machining centres. Fanuc, Haas and Cincinnati Acramatic controls, with Fanuc as the main one.
Programming
Programmed parts in SurfCAM and ran them through to finished product — toolpaths, post-processing, and proving out at the machine.
Day to day
Setups, tool measurement and offsets, running and editing programs at the control, managing the pallet queue, and troubleshooting when the cell stopped. Measurement and quality checks against drawings.
Materials
Aluminium, stainless steel, steel and plastics.
Background
Started on an apprenticeship contract in 2021 and stayed on after qualifying.
